What are Big Apple residential joists?

Big Apple Joist® is an engineered cold-formed steel floor framing solution designed to combine structural performance with easier coordination of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Unlike conventional C-shaped steel joists that may require field modifications to accommodate utilities, Big Apple Joists feature large, factory-formed openings that provide dedicated pathways for MEP systems while maintaining the integrity of the framing system.

Thicknesses from 43 mil (18 ga.) through 118 mil (10 ga.), with 18-gauge material listed at a minimum yield strength of 33 ksi and 16, 14, 12 and 10 gauge material at 50 ksi minimum yield strength. Products are listed with a G-60 hot-dipped galvanized coating.
